The trade volume between Egypt and Libya saw a significant increase, reaching $1.7 billion during the first 11 months of 2023, up from $1.2 billion in the same period in 2022, marking a 42% rise according to the Information and Decision Support Center of the Council of Ministers.

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics reported that Egyptian exports to Libya rose to $1.6 billion during the first 11 months of 2023, up from $1.1 billion in the corresponding period of 2022, reflecting a 48% increase.

The main categories of goods exported from Egypt to Libya during this period included:

  1. Products and manufactures of ceramics, stones, and cement valued at $322.5 million.
  2. Vegetables and fruits valued at $142.9 million.
  3. Plastics and their products valued at $145.8 million.
  4. Fuels and oils valued at $123.4 million.
  5. Tanning and dyeing extracts valued at $81.4 million.

The primary imports from Libya to Egypt were:

  1. Iron and steel valued at $39.2 million.
  2. Inorganic chemical products valued at $15.3 million.

This data highlights the diversified nature of trade between Egypt and Libya, with significant contributions from various sectors. The increase in trade volume not only strengthens the economic relationship between the two countries but also underscores the potential for further growth and collaboration in the future.
