Carib Cement Boosts Exports to Support Turks & Caicos Construction Boom
Caribbean Cement Company (Carib Cement) has made its third shipment of 3,100 metric tonnes of cement to the Turks and Caicos Islands, capitalizing on the construction boom in the region.
In a strategic move to support the burgeoning construction industry in the Turks and Caicos Islands, Carib Cement has dispatched a third shipment of 3,100 metric tonnes of its low-carbon, high-early (HE) strength industrial cement. This follows two previous shipments in September and November, each comprising 3,500 metric tonnes, aimed at fueling housing, commercial, and infrastructural projects on the islands.
Jorge Martinez, the newly appointed managing director of Carib Cement, emphasized the company's commitment to fulfilling international demand while ensuring the Jamaican market's needs are met. "These exports demonstrate our Rockfort plant's enhanced capacity. We're dedicated to serving the Jamaican market with our locally produced cement and leveraging our surplus production for export," Martinez stated.
The company's ambitious export plans are set to expand further in 2025, following the next phase of Carib Cement's expansion efforts. Angel Rivera, the supply chain manager, highlighted the significance of this latest shipment as a testament to the company's robust export capabilities, ensuring timely delivery to international customers.
The export initiative is poised to positively impact the Jamaican economy by generating revenue through trade, creating jobs, and maximizing the company's production capacity. This move not only supports the local cement industry but also caters to the construction needs across the Caribbean region.
The Turks and Caicos Islands have seen a significant uptick in construction activities, especially in the real estate sector, with a notable increase in single-family home construction. This trend underscores the growing demand for high-quality building materials, including cement, in the region.
Carib Cement is dedicated to fostering sustainable development and meeting the Caribbean region's customers' needs, reinforcing its position as a key player in the construction materials market.
