In a significant development for the Bolivian economy and the construction sector, the National Institute of Statistics (INE) revealed that the country's cement production reached 3.98 million metric tons (MT) by December 2023. This figure represents a 2.3% increase from the previous year, which saw production levels at 3.89 million MT.

Furthermore, cement sales also saw a positive trend, with a total volume of 3.97 million MT being sold, indicating a 3.6% increase compared to the same period in 2022, which recorded sales of 3.83 million MT. This growth in both production and sales underscores the robust demand and the strengthening of the construction sector in Bolivia.

Additionally, December 2023 witnessed a significant value in the importation of construction materials, amounting to $29.5 million, surpassing the figures recorded in the previous month. The imports were mainly categorized into Finished Products and Semi-Finished Products, totaling $16.6 million and $12.9 million, respectively.

Employment in construction-related activities within urban areas also experienced growth, reaching 370,000 individuals, an increase from the previous year's count of 362,000. This rise in employment further highlights the construction sector's vital role in bolstering the Bolivian economy and providing job opportunities.
