In December 2023, Poland saw a decrease in the average dynamics of building material prices compared to December 2022, marking the fourth consecutive month of price declines.

In December 2023, the Polish building materials market experienced a slight decrease in prices compared to the previous month, with a minimal drop of 0.2%. However, when analyzing the data for the period from January to December 2023 compared to 2022, there was an overall increase in price dynamics by 4%. Although there is still a noticeable rise in prices, the rate of increase has significantly slowed down month by month.

PSB Handel S.A., a group tracking prices of leading materials for construction, home, and garden, allows for observation of changing market trends. In December 2023, compared to the same month in 2022, the average dynamics of building material prices decreased by 2.6%, continuing the trend of declining prices for the fourth consecutive month.

Despite the overall decrease, prices in December 2023, compared to December 2022, increased in 7 out of 20 analyzed commodity groups. These include cement, lime (up by 17%), paints, varnishes (up by 7%), construction chemicals (up by 3%), home surroundings (up by 2%), equipment, home appliances (up by 1%), joinery (up by 1%), and installations, heating (up by 0.4%).

This data reflects the current state of the building materials market in Poland, indicating both the areas of price increase and the overall trend of slowing price growth in the industry.
