Heidelberg Materials Patents New Portland Composite Cement Production Method

Heidelberg Materials has recently secured a patent for an innovative method to produce Portland composite cement (PCC) using calcined clay and recycled waste cement. This groundbreaking process involves grinding clay with quartz and feldspar, calcining the clay, and then mixing it with the cement. The composition of the PCC includes varying percentages of cement ranging from 30% to 80% and calcined clay ranging from 10% to 70%.

The utilization of calcined clay as a key component not only enhances the performance of the cement but also significantly reduces CO2 emissions during production. By incorporating this method, Heidelberg Materials aims to address environmental concerns while maintaining high-quality standards in cement manufacturing.
