The cement industry is gearing up for a substantial capacity expansion, with a target to add 150-160 million tonnes (MT) by the fiscal year 2025-2028.

A recent report has highlighted an anticipated 8% growth in cement demand during fiscal 2022, with a further 12% surge expected in fiscal year 2023.

Looking ahead, an estimated 70-75 MT of capacity addition is foreseen in the next fiscal year, with a focus of 50-55% in the eastern and central regions. This expansion is largely driven by increasing demand in infrastructure and housing sectors.
