The Ministry of Construction recently addressed a request to the Vietnam Bureau of Minerals, urging the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to issue a mining license for the T51 and T52 Nui Nghe clay mines located in Ha Nam province. This license, if approved, would enable Long Thanh Cement Factory to produce cement with a maximum clay extraction capacity of 1.1 million tons per year.

The request aligns with Long Thanh Cement Plant's operational needs in Ha Nam province, which was initially projected to have a production capacity of 0.91 million tons per year under the Vietnam Cement Industry Development Plan for 2011-2020 with a vision towards 2030. However, adjustments were made by the Prime Minister's office on June 5, 2019, to increase the plant's production capacity to 2.3 million tons of cement per year, aiming for operational commencement in 2021.

By June 2019, the Ministry of Construction had agreed with Ha Nam province's proposal to enhance Long Thanh Cement Plant's capacity from 0.91 million tons to 2.3 million tons annually. This expansion necessitates a sufficient supply of clay as a primary raw material, spotlighting the significance of the T51 and T52 clay mines.

The Ministry of Construction's request is part of broader efforts to ensure a stable supply of essential raw materials for cement production at Long Thanh, while also adhering to advanced technological standards and environmental protection regulations. The approval of this mining permit is critical for meeting the production demands of the Long Thanh Cement Plant and supporting the sustainable development of Vietnam's cement industry.
