Narendra Raval's Simba Cement is gearing up to inaugurate its West Pokot plant in Kenya, aiming to add an annual capacity of 2.5 million tonnes of clinker.

The opening, scheduled for March 22, will be officiated by President Ruto. This expansion will position Raval as the top clinker producer in East Africa with a total production capacity of 7.5 million tonnes across his operations.

The new plant is anticipated to intensify competition in the cement industry and limit pricing flexibility.

The facility, which will be Kenya's second-largest, had its opening delayed from its initial August timeline due to electricity supply issues. Raval's vision includes exporting surplus clinker to neighboring East African countries to support their cement production needs.
