Cementos Molins Launches New Cements and Concretes with Lower CO2 Emissions

As part of its 'Sustainability Roadmap 2030' strategy, the company has unveiled two new types of Portland cement, which are used to produce the discussed concretes. These innovations result in up to a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to the current Type I cement products of the same resistance category.

The first is intended for the production of concretes and mortars, while the second is suitable for use in marine submerged works or in soils with high sulfate content.

The addition of different types of materials during the cement grinding process further reduces CO2 emissions.
- Promsa's Role: Promsa, Cementos Molins' business unit for concrete, mortar, and aggregates, now produces all its concretes with the new lower carbon footprint cement, achieving up to a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions. The new concrete can also incorporate recycled aggregates in its manufacturing process.
