In Indonesia, a significant industrial development is underway as Chinese investors have initiated the construction of a colossal cement plant in East Kalimantan. This ambitious project, claimed to be the largest cement plant in the world, involves an investment of 1 billion USD, equivalent to 15 trillion Indonesian Rupiah (IDR).

The plant, which was officially inaugurated in the village of Selangkau, Kaliorang district, Kutai Timur province on August 23, 2023, is a collaboration between the Hongshi Holdings Group from China and PT Kobexindo Cement. According to the Kutai Timur Regional Government's website, PT Kobexindo is a part of the Hongshi Holdings Group.

This substantial investment is expected to enable the plant to produce 8 million tons of cement annually. The daily production capacity is targeted to reach 10,000 tons. This strategic move is set to significantly enhance the cement production capacity in Indonesia and contribute to the local and national economy.
