JSW Group to Build 10 MT Cement Plant in Odisha, Alongside Steel and Infrastructure Projects

Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Group plans to establish a 10 million tonne per annum (MTPA) cement plant, a 900 MW power plant, and a 52 MT greenfield jetty port in Odisha, India. The group also aims to invest ₹18,000 crore to expand its cement capacity to 60 MTPA over the next five years.

In a significant development for the Indian state of Odisha, the JSW Group, led by Sajjan Jindal, has announced plans to build a 10 MTPA cement plant, a 900 MW power plant, and a 52 MT greenfield jetty port. These projects are part of a larger investment of ₹65,000 crore, which also includes a 13.2 MTPA steel plant. JSW Cement currently operates with a capacity of 19 MTPA across various manufacturing units in India.

The group's expansion plans include raising ₹6,000 crore through an initial public offering (IPO) for its cement business. JSW Group has already invested ₹30,000 crore in Odisha and has committed to investing an additional ₹1,65,000 crore. Sajjan Jindal emphasized the mutual trust between the group and the state, stating that Odisha has been a top destination for investments.

JSW Infrastructure will set up a greenfield port in Odisha with a cargo handling capacity of 52 million tonnes, primarily to cater to the requirements of JSW Steel's proposed 8 million tonnes pellet plant in the state. The company also operates two greenfield ports and seven terminals across the country.

JSW Steel has laid the foundation for a 13.2 MTPA steel plant in Odisha, with an investment of ₹65,000 crore2. The company's shares have risen following the announcement of the mega green steel manufacturing complex in Odisha3. JSW Utkal Steel, a subsidiary of JSW Steel, has received possession of 2677.80 acres of forest land for a greenfield integrated steel plant in the state.
