Ramco Cements to Invest ₹1403 Crore in Capacity Expansion at AP and TN Units

The Ramco Cements Ltd, a leading cement manufacturer in India, has unveiled its plan to invest a total of ₹1403 crore in expanding its production capacity in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

The company's proposal includes doubling the capacity at its Kalavatala integrated cement manufacturing complex in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of ₹1250 crore. This expansion program involves setting up a second line to double the clinker capacity to 6.3 MTPA and cement capacity to 3 MTPA, along with an additional waste heat recovery system (WHRS) capacity of 15 MW.

The Kalavatala plant, located in Kolimigundla Mandal, Nandyal District, Andhra Pradesh, has already achieved 100% capacity utilization, leading to the decision to establish Line II.In addition to the expansion in Andhra Pradesh, the company plans to invest ₹153 crore in setting up a waste heat recovery system of 10 MW capacity at its Ramasamy Raja Nagar Plant in Tamil Nadu.

The proposed 10 MW WHRS plant at the Ramasamy Raja Nagar factory complex is expected to be commissioned by March 2025, with the company actively working on obtaining the necessary permissions. These expansion initiatives are part of the company's efforts to minimize greenhouse gas emissions and reduce the environmental footprint in cement production.

The Ramco Cements Ltd has been experiencing growth, with its net revenue increasing by 5% to ₹2113 crore in the third quarter of the fiscal year 2023-24. The company's cement capacity utilization in the December 2023 quarter stood at 74%. The proposed capacity expansion and investment in waste heat recovery systems are aimed at meeting the growing demand for cement and further enhancing the company's operational efficiency.
