In a significant move towards renewable energy adoption, PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk (SBI) has partnered with PT Energi Mitra Indika Tenaga Surya (EMITS), an affiliate of the Indika Group, to establish a rooftop solar power plant (PLTS) at its Tuban cement factory in East Java. This initiative, with a capacity of 6.39 MWp, is part of SBI's broader efforts to increase the use of renewable energy sources across its operations, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly.

The collaboration with Indika is aligned with the government's push towards solar energy as an eco-friendly power source. Given Indonesia's geographical location, which benefits from high solar irradiation of 4.80 kilowatt-hours per m2 per day, the Tuban factory is ideally positioned to harness solar energy, with irradiation levels above the national average of 5.4 kilowatt-hours per m2 per day. This project is expected to contribute to global decarbonization efforts by mitigating global warming.

Installation of solar panels has already been completed on the main office building of the Tuban Factory, with plans to extend the installation to nine other buildings. The project is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2024, further enhancing SBI's use of renewable energy sources.
