Vietnam has established a national standard, TCVN 6072:1996, which specifies the technical requirements for calcium carbonate limestone used as raw material in the production of Portland cement.

Issued on March 18, 1996, this standard is crucial for the construction industry, ensuring that the limestone used meets specific chemical composition criteria to produce high-quality cement. According to TCVN 6072:1996, the limestone must contain no less than 85% calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and no more than 5% magnesium carbonate (MgCO3).

The standard also outlines the methods for sampling and testing these components, ensuring that the materials used in cement production contribute to the durability and strength of the resulting concrete structures.
