In Katni, Madhya Pradesh, India, the ACC Cement Plant has received a notice from the regional officer of the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board, Pushpendra Singh, for not adhering to the conditions of its consent under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act.

The notice highlights the plant's failure to establish an effective pollution control system, leading to air pollution within the industrial area. The plant was given consent with specific conditions, including the establishment of competent and effective pollution control measures.

However, due to non-compliance, environmental laws are being violated, prompting the issuance of the notice. The plant has been directed to address these deficiencies and comply with the consent terms within seven days. The notice also points out issues such as dust emissions due to the absence of regular water sprinkling in the mine area and transportation routes, uncovered transportation of raw materials, and ineffective operation of air pollution control devices during nighttime, affecting ambient air quality. The plant is urged to undertake necessary actions to rectify these shortcomings.
