Chinese Contractor Awarded Contract to Build Cement Plant in Iraq

Al Douh Iraqi Company for Cement Industries has selected Chinese contractor Suzhou Sinoma Construction Company to execute the main engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for a new cement plant in Iraq.

The contract, whose value has not been disclosed, was signed at a ceremony at RICG’s office in Amman. The plant, to be located in Samawah, will feature a clinker cement production line with a capacity of 5,500 tonnes per day, in addition to a power plant and a waste heat power generation unit. The project is expected to have a significant impact on the cement industry in Iraq and the broader economy.

\Al Douh Iraqi Company for Cement Industries has awarded the main engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the construction of a new cement plant in Iraq to Chinese contractor Suzhou Sinoma Construction Company. The contract, whose value has not been disclosed, was signed at a ceremony at RICG’s office in Amman.

The new cement plant, to be situated in Samawah in Iraq’s Musanna province, will comprise a clinker cement production line with an output capacity of 5,500 tonnes per day (t/d), as well as a power plant and a waste heat power generation unit. The project is expected to make a significant contribution to the cement industry in Iraq and the country's economy.
