Cementos Moctezuma, a prominent Mexican firm specializing in the production, distribution, and marketing of cement, concrete, and aggregates, has officially celebrated the appointment of its Corporate General Director, José María Barroso, as the new President of the National Cement Chamber (CANACEM) for the 2024-2025 term.

Barroso takes over from Jaime Hill Tinoco, the previous president, and faces the challenges of nearshoring phenomena and its impacts on the industry.

His leadership will continue the focus on the "Mexico – FICEM Roadmap: Towards a Low Carbon Economy" introduced by CANACEM in its 75th anniversary in 2023, aiming to reduce direct CO2 emission intensity by at least 17% by 2030 based on 2016 levels.

José María Barroso, an Industrial Engineer with a Master's in International Trade and over 40 years of experience in the cement sector, is committed to honoring the industry and promoting cement and concrete as prime options for construction and infrastructure with a reduced environmental impact. Under his guidance, Cementos Moctezuma aims to foster industry best practices and drive a more sustainable Mexico.
