Contract Workers at Semen Indonesia's Vendor Seek Assistance from Banyuwangi's Disnakertrans Office

In Banyuwangi, Indonesia, a group of contract workers from PT Swabina Gatra, a vendor for PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, sought assistance from the local Disnakertrans office. Their contracts, ranging from 6 to 12 years of service, were not extended. Among the workers, 15 had their contracts terminated. These workers, employed under specific work agreements, requested their rights to be fulfilled by the company, hoping for possible reemployment considering their long service.

A mediation meeting was held at the Disnakertrans Banyuwangi office, attended by representatives from PT Swabina Gatra. The meeting resulted in an agreement where the workers received their due compensation, although they could not be rehired. The workers requested priority consideration for future employment opportunities at PT Swabina Gatra.
